new discovered stream-radios

i just discovered 2 streaming radioservices with cc-music:
  • TheRadio.CC: it's a kind of a cooperation of radiopeople who bundle their forces into a streaming service, as far as i understand it (German) -> file under 'general pop & rock'
  • freemusi.cc: "is an online music player for streaming creative commons music. Its database currently contains 11329 tracks hosted on the servers of the Internet Archive. Every album is selected by hand, rated and tagged song by song before being added here.":
this is a kind of a tagging service as well, but not clear enough: to me it looks like a website for librarians who want to tag music; though i'm interested in the concept of turning the database of archive.org into a streaming radio -> file under 'self-service radio'

both links added to the links dpt.: 'listen'-page

    hot netlabel news

This weekend we'll have to celebrate a lot of things at our "Scorpio's Lazy Sunday Entrepot":

Portuguese netlabel MiMi Records releases its 200th album full of electronic music soundscapes: [mi200] Loxodromia 200.
Our favorites are BHASM and likeicare: listen to them in one of our next netwaves episodes!

In the same time the anglo-american netlabel Fwonk* published its 100th release with the simple title FWONK*100, an album with more experimental electronica.
netwaves especially likes Dr. Nemmo, Katarrhaktes vs Per Byhring, and the funny cover of Edelweiss by the Stratosonics "Oidelweiss". Check our transmissions next weeks!

On 1617 Nov. the first Indonesian Netaudio Festival will take place: "Logo ini adalah logo resmi yang akan dipergunakan untuk acara Indonesian Netaudio Festival. Indonesian Netaudio Festival ini direncanakan akan berlangsung pada tanggal 16 17 November 2012." The blog tells about the new logo, and apparently Wok The Rock from Indonesian famous netlabel Yes No Wave Music is strongly involved. We wish them a succesful festival from this side of the world.

Our radio-colleagues from the free music/free culture-focused radio-program Breitband celebrate their 5th birthday with a compilation "Best Of Breitband Vol. 5": nice title ;-)
    Congrats folks!

There's a very interesting project going on: the foundation of a Creative Commons based collecting society: C3S - Cultural Commons Collecting Society. They make a public call to become a member as an artist and to sustain this project. I think this is an extensive subject that needs to be discussed and encouraged by every artist and organisation around, not engaging in industry, but rather in culture. I will certainly flattr this initiative and ask the people of CC Belgium what they think of this initiative.
    Put this on your agenda!

    what's hot, what's not?

Here are some updates about netlabels and netlabelism:

The Netaudio London festival passed without any significant notice, despite the presence of Nurse with wound and Bruce Gilbert. You can read a review on netlabelism.com

The upcoming Netaudio Lissabon festival is postponed, due to technical reasons. Read more in this press message.

This year there was no Cologne Commons festival, as you noticed of course. The reason why is unclear. We hope we can rejoin them next year, because it's a cozy party.

"The Sun Will Rise" is a 'Inter-Netlabel Compilation for Japanese Relief'. This release is an artistic support for the victims of the disasters in Japan. You can download the album with mostly ambient, downtempo, chill-out music from the IA parking. The project just closed down the donation part. More info at the project's website.

The famous Spanish techno-techhouse netlabel Offaudio quits the netlabel scene. Read more at their website: "After 7 years, Offaudio says adis". No reason is given for the departure, but as with lots of gone netlabels, we presume personal change-of-life reasons are an important factor for this kind of decisions. Pity.

netwaves just discovered a new netabel e-zine: Net Audio Magazine, important for its reviews of netlabel releases.

The Spanish netlabel e-zine "Netlabels & News" has moved to it's own server: https://netlabelsnews.org/

Swiss frog jumps into another pool

From the Swiss netlabel portal Starfrosch:

    "Hi from starfrosch

We now run this blog for over 7 years and we noticed, that we no longer enjoy running it. We spend every month 100$ for the server and have no fun doing it. It was a good time with lots of fantastic new artists and freaky sound (and lots of crap).

We hope you enjoyed the ride. We don't want to stop blogging totaly and decided to move forward. Will you follow us?
    Here we go.

We want to start a new starfrosch blog with new content. But first we need your help. What would you like to read, watch or listen to? Tell us your interessts, so we can feed you :)

    Here is our new location."

    netlabelism's database

    There's a new initiative in netlabel-town:
netlabelism.com tells: "Today we would like to present to you a brand new Netlabelism feature: The Contribution Database (Version 1.1 Beta). Its a section where you can easily contribute your latest free release or music worth sharing. Register a free account and spread the word! At the moment we have chosen a very clear and simple layout for each release, so you can quickly see the artist, label, genre and where you can find it. You can share your impressions and ideas about the database in the articel comment section."

    Zimmer closes door

Psychoded, the man behind netlabels Zimmer records (techno, house), Akashic records (electronic, ambient) and Haushaltsware (deep house, idm, techdub) sent a message that he stops with Zimmer and Akashic. We don't know anything about netlabel Haushaltsware yet. Sad news indeed.

We found this info on his press page @ facebook:

-'man soll gehen wenn es am schnsten ist .. ^^'
-'there will be some releases to be released the next weeks, but no new stuff ... after "hermetic principles 7" the whole story will be told...'
-'lack of support' (reply: 'can't understand... all netlabels has lack of support, and this is not new...')
-'guess i will have to rethink some issues - and then move to africa. fed up with all here...'
-'akashic-records will also be down after number 12. so still 8 releases to come there. hold tight :)'

Not only was Zimmer very known for its broad gamma of techno, house, techhouse and chill, but also for its coverart, which was always made of blue or black ball pen drawings.

    new netlabel newsgroup

Last week a new netlabel newsgroup launched under curatorship of Mystified.

    Read the about:

"'netlabelposts' is a free list for posting about music released on netlabels. The focus is on free and cc-licensed music. Promotional posts are permitted, as well as reviews, project invitations, radio playlists and similar posts. Any rudeness/threats will not be tolerated and will result in immediate banning. In general, feel free to use this list to build a communication network for the netlabel community, informing one another about topics relevant to netlabels."

netwaves had already collected these newsgroups about netlabels and netaudio on its 'basics' page:

    mailing lists:

netwaves will give 'netlabelposts' a try because:
    - it's owned by netlabel scientist Mystified
    - it will be moderated
