last nov. netwaves celebrated its 5th birthday with a live event: you can find 4 of the mixes here (jspr, indip, mb3, RuE9 - due to technical problems, the live mixes crashed, so these are reconstructions) and here (Dektro)

Here are some practical facts and items about the netlabel Broque, of which a few deejays and producers happen to play at our netlabelnight on 12 may @ het Depot.

About Broque: "Broque.de represents fresh danceable electronic sounds and experiments from the surrounding field of the “Oder auf Brot” community. We release our music as mp3, but also on vinyl and CD. We hope you enjoy our stuff. And if you like to give us some feedback – we are happy about it."

Netlabel co-founder is Tend, who is also coming to our party. You can find a mix from him on one of our older netwaves.bpm mixes "spread this mix on your bread".
Around that same time we did a netwaves special about Broque.

Na 3 jaar geeft netwaves er nog eens een lap op in de vorm van een gezellig samenzijn met 'Wein, Weib und Lieder!'. De plaats is een niet-virtuele omgeving, nl. het bakstenen gebouw van de Sojo.

Het kot zat pompesvol vorige zaterdag. Weliswaar was niet iedereen voor Netwaves Live gekomen, maar een grote hoop wel voor het hoogtepunt van Kulturama, de Ed Banger labelnight. Toch was er een harde kern die na het elektronische opwarm-deken van dj Tmp zich genoeglijk liet gaan op de opzwepende beats van Pleksi & Kronoz. Deze jongelui hadden ook een verdienstelijke bijdrage aan de Scorpio DJ-contest gedaan, en stonden als beloning nu op de breakstoel van de Silo. Vervolgens verrraste Cpt. Interceptor met z'n electro act: concurrentie voor Dr. Lectroluv heeft zich bij deze gemeld. Vervolgens deden B&P de Netwaves op een professionele manier beuken op de dansvloer. Akwalek deed uitgeleide met z'n typische vloeiende, psychedelische, organische golfbewegingen. Kortom Netwaves Live bewees vorige zaterdag dat dit concept staat als een beuk. Radio Scorpio organiseert in samenwerking met het Depot voor Kulturama een DJ-Contest.

Goed nieuws voor aanstormend DJ-talent. Radio Scorpio (Leuven, 106 FM) organiseert op 9 februari van 22u tot 01u een DJ-wedstrijd. Dan sturen we een selectie van de inzendingen de Leuvense ether in. In het bijzonder zijn we op zoek naar liefhebbers van up&down electronica en varianten. Op het einde van de uitzending maakt onze jury van gerenommeerde Scorpio-dj's dé winnaar bekend.

En of er wat te winnen valt? We hebben maar één prijs, maar al zeggen we het zelf, die is niet mis. Op zaterdag 16 februari organiseert Het Depot n.a.v. het jaarlijkse Kulturamafestival een dj Ed Banger Label Night in de Silo. De grote zaal van de Silo wordt onder handen genomen door Mr. Oizo, labelbaas Busy P himself en Uffie & Feadz.

De winnaar van onze wedstrijd mag deze hoogdag van de electronische muziek op gang trekken in de "Small Room" van diezelfde Silo, alwaar de dj's van Netwaves Live hun ding doen. Van een vuurdoop gesproken… Én niet te vergeten: de winnende set wordt uitgebracht op het bekende netlabel Sonic Walker.

Wat je verder nog moet weten? Enkel songs die zijn uitgebracht onder Creative Commons mogen in de mixer worden gedraaid. Qué? Creative Commons is een licentie die ervoor zorgt dat het auteursrecht bewaard blijft, maar dat het werk toch vrij mag gekopieerd en verspreid worden. Anders gezegd: sabam-vrije stuff. Op onze site vind je onder 'DJ-contest' voorbeelden te over. Je bezorgt je mix ten laatste op 6 februari aan Radio Scorpio, Naamsestraat 96, 3000 Leuven of je stuurt ons de online link door (mail@radioscorpio.com). Hierbij voeg je dan ook verplicht je playlist (naam artiest, titel nummer, label, link online). En dan is het afwachten.

Kulturama is 4 days (thursday 14 - sunday 17 feb.) of street animation, art, city walks, performances, live gigs, theatre, visuals, ... organised by the department of culture '30CC' in cooperation with the main cultural organisations in Leuven: Artefact, Artforum, library Tweebronnen, University library K.U.Leuven, CinemaZED, Cultuurcoördinatie K.U.Leuven, Het Depot, fABULEUS, Festival van Vlaanderen Vlaams-Brabant, Lemmensinstituut, provincie Vlaams-Brabant, stedelijke musea, stedelijke academie voor beeldende kunst, stedelijk conservatorium, STUK, Braakland/ZheBilding en Toerisme Leuven. Saturday 16 feb. Kulturama will launch ao. Modeselektor @ Stuk and Ed Banger Label Night @ Club Silo (Mr. Oizo, labelboss Busy P and Uffie. 'Netwaves live' is playing in the same Silo at the same time in the Small Room.
